A brush may be the most important thing to maintain a high level of skin / coat health. When a dog is retaining a coat that's supposed to be shed, skin diseases are the result. This is the brush I prefer over all others. It's just a "self cleaning Slicker brush" and they're cheap on Amazon.

Heartworms What You Need to Know

Heartworms are transmitted by mosquitoes and are a year-round problem with dogs in Georgia.
A dog left outside without heartworm prevention will have heartworm disease within two years and will be hopelessly compromised after 12 months of infection.
A dog kept indoors without heartworm prevention may live its entire life without contracting heartworms. More so with Chows and Pomeranians due to their 'bushy' coats, and MUCH less so with outdoorsy dogs like Labradors who live mainly indoors but are constantly roaming creeks and fields.
The most common dogs with heartworm disease are indoor dogs because the OUTDOOR dogs are always kept on heartworm prevention.
We see a positive indoor heartworm dog every 6-8 weeks. That's just one clinic.
As you can see it's not a "rampant epidemic"
But it does happen with a degree of regularity.

There's a medicine you give once a month that kills the baby-heartworms before they become adult worms and settle in the heart chambers.

I'm pretty slack about my own dog's heartworm pills for two reasons.

First, I forget.
Second, I can treat mine for free. LOL

There are so many incorrect things that "they" say like they're facts, on the interwebs, like "Don't Use People Shampoo" and "Don't Give Your Dog Actual Bones" and "Raw Feeding is Bad For Your Dog" and even "Cats Need Water In Their Food". Is there any harm in these? No, not really but here's the truth.
The Sporn Halter: When I see someone getting dragged around by their dog, getting their arm ripped off, I wish they knew about these halters. I mean, YEAH they're a harness. And they pull uncomfortably if the dog pulls. So they stop, IMMEDIATELY. I use these for Ajax. Now I don't dread walking him. SPORN HALTER

"Koi Health & Disease, 2nd Edition" was written by Dr Erik Johnson to answer the need for a book that was approachable by laymen, and derived from direct, hands-on practice of Veterinary Medicine with Koi and Ponds.

Experience means I know the common things that happen and the fastest and easiest solutions, which vary DRASTICALLY by temperature crowding and pond size.

A 200 page distillation of 17 years of Koi practice including surgery.

A "bark correction" collar is of IMMENSE utility for dogs. Including the dog that goes OUT of his mind when he sees another dog on a walk. A dog that howls all day while you're at work. Even dogs that indulge vocalization with separation anxiety. Yeah. It's a "thing" and it works. Rechargeable, simple-to-use, durable waterproof bark collar with sound and sting.
FRESH BREATH and arrested dental disease. This magic stuff won't break down or remove tartar (crusting) but it will kill the germs that build it. And the breath. So. Much. Better. Oxyfresh is used as the only drinking water source (it's mixed in their water) and works wonders. OXYFRESH KIT
I always thought that "Alexa" was just piffle. But then I got it. And I wonder "How did I live without this?" You can get all the lights in your house to turn on, and off at the same time. In fact you can automate just about everything. And it's SUPER eaasy to set up. ALEXA SYSTEMS from Amazon

If you wanna grow plants, reptiles, even fish in the house with full spectrum lighting, the technology has come a long way. 1000W Grow Lights LED are now less than $200 and some are even less than $100. Look at how many feet they cover though, because <600W may not cover ONE plant! Grow tomatoes in the house
"Hot tubs aren't permanent anymore, and they're not $3,000 either (Closer to $500). A much-older buddy of mine says that the BEST relief for his severely arthritic spine, (and his hips), that he can get is from his hot tub. NOT pills.
Your dog can't use it's hind legs well enough to actually function or get around. If they can still pee and poop on their own volition, consider a cart for mobility while they convalesce with, or without surgery. For MOST dogs they work. I like the FOUR wheeled ones. But nowadays they make four wheel carts with removable front wheels. Mobility Carts for Dogs at a Reasonable Price.
Your dog or cat is at the house. What's he doing? Wanna pop-in and surprise 'em? Get these Furbo Treat Cams and you can visit like your dog's on Zoom! And talk to 'em.
