Sometimes the dog will eat something it shouldn’t. Sometimes it’s not a poisoning, it’s annoying, like a cake, or a pile of chicken skin and you know it’s going to cause diarrhea, BAD.

Other times it’s medicine or some other toxic molecule or poisoning substance.

In any event, TWO HOURS is an important parameter to recall, because stomach-emptying occurs within two hours, so if your dog JUST ATE that bunch of grapes 5 minutes ago, it’s fine. Induce vomiting. Good-to-go.

But if you discover a problem closer to, or AFTER the two hour window, it’s going to be a problem. After two hours, the toxin or object should have moved into the small intestine for absorbtion.

Give a dog a "drink" of hydrogen peroxide 3% which is the common over the counter dose. No dog should get less than a tablespoon. A 5 pound dog would get a tablespoon and they won't "drink it" in fact you will have to tip their head up and GIVE it to them. One of those times that having a syring knocking around is nice.

A 50-60 pound dog would get at least a cup. After that, you wait 5 minutes and if the dog hasn't thrown up you give a repeat, full dose.

If the dog doesn't throw up in 5 minutes, give a third full dose. And after that if the dog doesn't throw up - you have a Miracle-Dog on your hands and a miracle has happened.

Dogs throw up three or four times. Then they're like NOT vomiting for 10-15 minutes you can 'conclude' the treatment by 'giving' clean water. For whatever reason they won't drink water on their own, I guess they don't trust it. s
Your dog can't use it's hind legs well enough to actually function or get around. If they can still pee and poop on their own volition, consider a cart for mobility while they convalesce with, or without surgery. For MOST dogs they work. I like the FOUR wheeled ones.
